Based in NY’s Hudson Valley, C.B. SMITH & THE LUCKY DEVILS have been tearing up venues around the Northeast, performing at clubs like The Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, Banjo Jim’s in NYC and Caffé Lena in Saratoga Springs, and our favorite local haunts and dives.
Our repertoire includes a unique mix of originals, bluegrass classics (like the Bill Monroe Centennial set that’s been the centerpiece of our recent shows) and surprises like the occasional Tom Petty, Stephen Foster, Richard Thompson or Rolling Stones song.
Our M.O. is to remain true to the high & lonesome sound that makes bluegrass so distinctive while pushing the envelope in new directions, with a bit of chamber music, jazz harmony and rock & roll attitude stirred in. I mean, how many bluegrass bands feature a cello?
